Time Management Application: Timester

Time management is a big issue for contemporary students, and I learnt about their needs in this area by interviewing five students, and I organized the problems and needs into two categories: e-entertainment use restriction and study motivation

I chose to create the app with a home page/timer, store, community, and statistics sections. While using it, if the phone is switched to another app, the hamster stops running, reinforcing focus by preventing distractions from mobile entertainment. The reward system also serves as motivation—the longer you study, the more gold coins you earn. Another source of motivation is the social aspect: you can use the app with friends, encouraging you to work harder when you see others staying focused.

Conclusion

Through thoughtful interaction design that integrates functionality, motivation, and community engagement to enhance productivity, the app supports users in managing their time effectively. This project demonstrates how digital design can shape user behavior, fostering better study habits and reducing distractions in an increasingly connected world. Future iterations could explore additional customization options and deeper integration with collaborative study tools, further refining the experience for a diverse range of users.
